Our twelve-year-old Peruvian mare, Fina GG, gave birth to a healthy chestnut colt on May 5th, thus naming him "Cinco de Mayo". She kindly achieved this feat ten days prior to her due date, saving us all the trouble and worry of night watches at the barn.
"Cinco" is half Peruvian, part paint, part quarter horse and all boy! At two weeks old he performed a variety of maneuvers, including galloping in circles, sliding to a stop, caprioles and levades onto Mama's hind quarters (not popular with Fina!). We believe he will mature into an outstanding trail horse - strong, sound and sane with the luxurious Rolls Royce gait of his mother and the athleticism of his father. Time will tell… but aren't we all optimistic about the potential of our offspring?
